4 years ago a Polish military Tu-154 crashed on approach to Smolensk, destroying the aircraft and taking the lives of 96 passengers and crew including the Polish President and his wife. Under the circumstances there were inevitable conspiracy theories but the investigation concluded that it was controlled flight into terrain in poor visibility, although there may have been some coercion of the military pilots by a senior officer on board. I have written about this before and even appeared on Russian TV to give an opinion on the accident and the investigation report - to be honest it still looks like a classic CFIT to me, with or without coercion.
I thought the dust had settled and the findings sadly accepted, so I was somewhat surprised to find the article below in the London Daily Telegraph published 11 April. A Polish MP from the party of the late president appears to have concluded from 'expert witness' evidence that the accident was the result of an explosion. I haven't seen the report but I suspect this will rekindle the conspiracy debate in Poland - anyone got a copy?
