EASA WARNS OF TCO APPLICATION DEADLINE

EASA this week sent out the following notification to warn non-European operators (Third Country Operators or TCOs) that if they wish to continue or commence flights to European destinations they must complete the TCO Application process, or risk being denied access. If you have any doubts about how to make the application please contact us at Gates Aviation on +44 (0) 207 469 6437 or jgillespie@gatesaviation.com :

EU application deadline for third country operators is approaching
On 26th May the European Regulation (EC) No. 452/2014, so called Part-TCO, has entered into force. This regulation requires all third-country operators (TCO) engaging in commercial air transport to EU territories to apply to EASA for a TCO Authorisation.
The deadline to apply for a TCO Authorisation is 26th November 2014.
Many operators have not submitted their application yet.
Once the application has been received, EASA will conduct a safety evaluation of the technical questionnaire, which includes operational and fleet data.
Operators missing this important deadline face the risk that their operation to Europe may be interrupted until this assessment is performed and the TCO Authorisation is issued by EASA.
All non-European commercial operators holding operating permits to any EASA Member State are invited to submit the TCO Authorisation application as soon as possible.
